Insurance Europe is the European insurance and reinsurance federation. Through its 35 member bodies — the national  insurance  associations — Insurance  Europe  represents  all  types  of insurance  and  reinsurance undertakings, eg pan-European companies, monoliners, mutuals and SMEs. Insurance Europe, which is based in  Brussels,  represents undertakings  that  account  for around  95%  of  total  European  premium  income. Insurance  makes  a  major  contribution  to Europe’s  economic  growth  and  development.  European  insurers generate  premium  income  of  €1 200bn,  directly  employ  985  000  people  and  invest  nearly  €9 900bn  in  the economy.
For our personal insurance, general insurance & macroeconomics department, we are looking for a (m/f)
Policy advisor Economics and Statistics
  • Organises  and  executes  the  collection  of  key  figures  and  statistics  about  the  European  insurance sector, covering all insurance related areas (e.g. life, motor, health, pensions, reinsurance) 
  • Performs  data-analysis  and  prepares  analytical  reports,  with  view  to  producing  quarterly  and  annual reporting  on  developments  and  trends  about  the  European insurance  and  reinsurance  market; coordinates closely with national associations on the data-interpretation and analysis;
  • Contributes  to  selected  Insurance  Europe  publications  such  as  “European  Insurance  in  Figures”  and “European Insurance Key Facts”; contributes to Insurance Europe’s policy making;
  • Performs  economic  analysis  and  provides  statistical  expertise  in  view  of  joint  projects  with  other departments.  Cooperates  closely  with  other  members  of  the  team in  the  analysis  and  reporting  of results;
  • Supports the work of the statistics committee and various other Insurance Europe working groups and committees; 
  • Assumes  responsibility  for  contacts  and  coordination  with  external  stakeholders,  e.g.  OECD,  Eurostat and other relevant European/international organisations; 
  • Coordinates closely with and reports directly to the head of department.
  • University degree in statistics and/or economic analysis; 
  • Experience with treatment of data and reporting about complex, quantitative issues; 
  • Very good analytical skills and proven ability to synthesise feedback; 
  • Ability to work independently and in a team; 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (i.e. presentation and communication skills); 
  • Demonstrated  ability  to  draft  concise,  clear  policy  papers  on  complex  technical  subjects,  and  to 
  • communicate the results to non-specialist audiences; 
  • Proven capacity to deliver high quality results on a timely basis with attention for detail;
  • Excellent ICT skills.
