Communications Manager

European Aluminium is looking for a highly motivated candidate with strong written and oral skills for its internal and external communications. Fluent written and spoken English is essential as editing and proofreading are important job features. The position is a full-time contract based in Brussels.

Main tasks:

Under the supervision of European Aluminium’s Director for Public Affairs and Communications:

  • Implement European Aluminium’s communication strategy, including digital campaigns.
  • Develop communication messages and material to support European Aluminium’s campaigns (energy, trade, innovation, circular economy) towards the EU institutions and beyond. 
  • Overlook, safeguard and deploy the European Aluminium’s brand identity in all communications supports.
  • Steer for the editorial process of European Aluminium publications, presentations, website and for safeguarding consistency in the organisational brand and image.
  • Support other staff members in the creation of communications content (e.g. drafting/editing articles, presentations, animations, infographics, social media content).
  • Develop media communication material, including drafting press briefings, press releases and distribution to the target groups.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationship with the Brussels-based press groups, wires and key national media. 
  • Develop and implement the online communication strategy including digital campaigns with social media, videos, blogs, etc.
  • Responsible for the European Aluminium weekly electronic newsletter and internal comms. 
  • Work in close collaboration with the Manager for Public Affairs.
  • Contribute to the organisation of events and European Aluminium annual meetings.

Essential skills:

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant communications related work experience.
  • Be fluent in both written and spoken English (ideally native English speaker), other languages a plus (French, German, Italian).
  • Have excellent command of Windows Office package, social media (twitter, linkedin, periscope, etc) and website editing such as Umbraco.
  • Experience with print and online media an additional asset.
  • Have a thorough understanding of the functioning of the EU Institutions.
  • Experience in international work environments.
  • Willingness to travel.
